The drums of Tokyo
A film by Gilles le Mao
In Japan fest goes with Taïko. These drums, here the group Oedo Sukeroku, give the rythm to the popular emotions.
In Japan, one cannot imagine any festivities without Taiko,
drums whose deep tones give rhythm to popular emotions. In a performance brimming with
power and refinement, the Oedo Sukeroku Ensemble recreates this celebratory atmosphere.
Filmed between the « Dragons » and « Gallé » by the general council of the department of
Moselle and the heart of Tokyo, this urban group immerses us in a rhythmic universe, both
marvelous and amazing. The film, mixing concerts, ideograms and urban life, reconstructs all
the sensory ambiguity of the Japanese megalopolis for us with vitality and serenity.
