Forced to leave Dakar at the end of the 60s, filmmaker Samba Félix Ndiaye now returns after forty years of exile in Paris. Once the thrill of flying over the peninsula and crossing the bay of Ngor fades, the rediscovery of his native city forces him to come to terms with an unexpected reality not unlike the disastrous images of Africa he’d seen in the media and denounced.
On a quest for living truths that touch his own identity, he uses the disillusions and hopes of his fellow Africans as the raw material for this film, a kind of introspection of a continent in the age of globalization that champions reform and the readjustment of power on both a local and global level.
