Music According to Deben Bhattacharya
A documentary by Stéphane Jourdain
52'
Deben Bhattacharya spent his life on the road recording music in dozens of countries, in hundreds of cities and towns and making records. He was neither a scientist, nor a dilettante: simply a man eager for knowledge, with an exacerbated sensitivity and penchant for wandering.
By the mid-80’s, he had accumulated over 800 hours of recordings, 16,000 photographs, made 23 films and published around 15 books.
The film is constructed around Deben Bhattacharya’s return to Bangladesh, the country of his origins.
