Founded in 361 A D by Saint Martin, the Abbey of Ligugé was Europe’s first monastery. Since then, it has been noteworly for its vivacity and the importance of its intellectual life (Caudel wanted to enter and Huysmans converted there, etc)as well as for the bravery of some of its monks who lost their lives due to their ations during the French Resistance Inspird by Braque, Chagoll or Rovalt, their gold enamel workshop has been greatl succes-sfull. For more than fifty years, Ligugè’s monk have refined their know-how. Their ena-mel’s now are know as true museum pieces.
