St Vincent de Chantelle. A Bouquet of Scents

A documentary by Lizette Lemoine & Aubin Hellot

Thirteen nuns live, pray and work at the Saint Vincent de Chantelle Monastery in France’s Allier region. Over fifty years ago, they founded and made prosper the perfume, “Chantelle.” Since 1994, they have subcontracted the fabrication of part of its products to two other monasteries allowing the latter to also find a livelihood. This decision is fairly characteristic of the mutual aid between monasteries today, at a time when economic matters are becoming more and more significant for ageing communities.
