The Punkt Festival in Kristiansand (Norway) is based on a live remix experience. Every concert is immediately followed by its remixed performance by other guest musicians. Indeed, the music first heard in its live original form resurfaces consequently anew, with improvisation and surprise.

Live Remix by Ivar Grydeland | Erik Honoré (Punkt Festival 2013 - 55')
For the 2013 festival, young pianist virtuoso Tigran Hamasyan takes on festival curator Jan Bang's live sampling in a lively set of improvisations. Guitarist Eivind Aarset joins the pair as a special guest. The concert is remixed by Erik Honoré and Ivar Grydeland.

Norwegian guitarist Eivind Aarset premieres his "Dream Logic" project. Accompanied by two drummers, a bassist and Jan Bang on electronics. Aarset enlightens us with long hypnotic variations that hover between post-Miles Davis electric jazz, ambient and experimental rock. The live remix is carried out by Jan Bang and Erik Honoré together with the gifted norwegian trumpet player Arve Henriksen.

 

 

Eténèsh Wassie & Mathieu Sourisseau

Live Remix by Audun Kleive | Jan Bang (Punkt Festival 2013 - 59')
In 2013, the festival has invited ethiopian singer Eténèsh Wassiè, a major voice from Addis Ababa who has been accompanied by french bassist Mathieu Sourisseau since 2002. Their music revisits ethiopian groove and pushes it to the limits of free jazz. The live remix of their concert is carried out by Jan Bang on the sampler and norwegian drummer and percussionist Audun Kleive, considered a leader of Oslo's Nu-Jazz scene.
